Autodesk Fusion

Autodesk Fusion (formerly Fusion 360) is CAD/CAM software for Windows and macOS. Dental labs use it for jigs, fixtures and STL mesh repair. Shareware: free for non-commercial personal use and eligible education; practices and labs need a paid licence (trial available).
Autodesk Meshmixer

Autodesk Meshmixer is a free Windows mesh editor that dental labs use to trim intraoral scans, add bases, fill holes, hollow models and export STL for printing. Development ended with version 3.5 (2018); Autodesk no longer supports it.
OrthoCAD

OrthoCAD is Align Technology’s Windows program for viewing and measuring iTero digital study models: tooth widths, Bolton, arch, overjet/overbite and ABO scoring. Shareware (conditionally free): the installer is free, use is tied to an iTero account. There is no Lite edition.
insight3d

insight3d is a free, open-source photogrammetry program that builds 3D point clouds and textured models from photographs. It is dormant: the last installer is 32-bit version 0.3.2 from 2009. No dental features; useful mainly for teaching.
Skanect

Skanect turns a depth sensor such as Structure Sensor or Structure Core into a desktop 3D scanner and exports STL, OBJ, PLY and VRML. Shareware (conditionally free): the free mode is non-commercial and saves at 5,000 polygons. Being phased out; last version 1.11.0.
