NexHealth

NexHealth

NexHealth is a patient experience platform for dental and medical practices: online booking, digital forms, reminders, messaging and payments synced with your practice management system. Shareware (conditionally free): commercial software with a demo; free iPad app for customers.

Shareware (conditionally free)Commercial · demo only · add-on to your PMS

NexHealth is a patient experience platform for dental and medical practices: online booking, digital intake forms, automated reminders, two-way messaging, payments and insurance verification, all synced with the practice’s health record or practice management system. In dentistry it is used by offices on Dentrix, Open Dental, Eaglesoft and many other systems that want patients to book and fill in paperwork online without double entry. People looking for a NexHealth download usually need either the iPad app for in-office forms or the Synchronizer that connects NexHealth to an on-premises server.

NexHealth is commercial software with no free version. The vendor offers a demo and builds a quote from the products you choose, so we list it as shareware (conditionally free). The apps themselves are free to download, but they only work with a NexHealth practice account.

Best for US dental practices that want online booking and digital forms written straight back into their existing practice management system

What it does

  • Online booking that reads real availability from the practice management system and writes new appointments back to it, plus waitlist and recall tools.
  • Digital forms with a drag-and-drop builder, templates and conditional logic; forms are sent automatically by appointment type, procedure code or patient status.
  • Completed forms sync to the record system, with medical alerts for allergies, medications and conditions and a PDF copy saved to the document centre.
  • Automated text and email reminders, two-way messaging, campaigns and review requests.
  • Patient payments with automatic posting to the record system.
  • Real-time insurance eligibility checks and an analytics dashboard (Insights).
  • An iPad app with the daily schedule, patient messaging and a kiosk mode for check-in and forms.
  • The NexHealth Synchronizer, a REST API with webhooks that lets developers read and write data across supported practice management systems.

How dental teams use it

Let new patients book online

  1. Connect NexHealth to your practice management system during onboarding.
  2. Choose which providers, operatories and appointment types are open for online booking.
  3. Add the booking link to your website and Google profile; booked visits appear in your schedule without re-typing.

Move intake paperwork online

  1. Build or import your medical history, consent and HIPAA forms; the support team can digitise existing paper forms.
  2. Set rules so forms go out automatically after booking, with reminders if they are not completed.
  3. Use the iPad app in kiosk mode for patients who arrive without completing them. Answers sync to the chart, and medical alerts are flagged for review.

Cut no-shows and fill gaps

  1. Turn on confirmation and reminder messages by text and email.
  2. When a patient cancels, use the waitlist to offer the slot to others.
  3. Run recall campaigns for patients overdue for hygiene.

Install and first run

  • Cloud-based record systems are connected without on-site software. Server-based systems need the NexHealth Synchronizer installed on the server computer where the database runs; this is required for Open Dental, Dentrix, Dentrix Enterprise and Eaglesoft.
  • Minimum for the Synchronizer: Windows 10 or later, or Windows Server 2012 R2 or later (2016 or later recommended), 500 MB RAM and 320 MB of storage (1–2 GB recommended).
  • Installation is usually done by the NexHealth integrations team over remote access and needs Windows administrator rights and database credentials.
  • Allow ports 443, 4505 and 4506 and NexHealth domains through the firewall, and exclude the NexHealth and Salt folders under C:Program Files and C:ProgramData from antivirus scanning, as listed in the vendor’s install guide.
  • After installation the first sync can take some time; a yellow banner shows while records are syncing.
  • For forms in the office, search “NexHealth” in the App Store on the iPad and sign in with your NexHealth account.

Limitations

  • It is not a practice management system. Charting, treatment planning and claims stay in your existing software.
  • The on-premises connection depends on the Synchronizer running on your server; if the server is off or blocked by antivirus, data stops syncing.
  • Commercial product with no free plan or self-service trial; evaluation is through a demo. We do not list prices.
  • The iPad and iPhone apps are available only in the US and Canada, and the full set of tools is used in the web app.
  • The platform serves many medical specialties, so some marketing and settings are generic rather than dental-specific.

NexHealth vs alternatives

Product Focus Note
NexHealth Booking, forms, reminders, payments Broad integration list and a developer API
Dental Intelligence Analytics plus engagement Stronger on practice metrics and morning huddles
CareStack Full cloud practice management Includes its own booking, portal and reminders

Practices already on cloud systems such as Curve Dental or Denticon should first check which engagement features are built in before adding NexHealth.

FAQ

Is there a NexHealth app download?

Yes. The NexHealth app for iPad and iPhone is in the App Store in the US and Canada. It needs an existing NexHealth practice account.

Is NexHealth a PMS or an EHR?

No. It sits on top of your practice management or health record system and syncs data with it; it does not replace charting or billing.

Is NexHealth HIPAA compliant?

NexHealth states that it works exclusively with healthcare providers and treats HIPAA, security and privacy as a top priority. Ask for a business associate agreement during the demo.

Does NexHealth integrate with Dentrix?

Yes. Dentrix is supported through the Synchronizer installed on the Dentrix server; Open Dental and Eaglesoft work the same way.

What is NexHealth pricing?

Pricing is quoted for the products you select after a demo. We do not list prices; there is no free plan.

NexHealth vs Weave?

Both cover reminders and patient messaging. NexHealth puts more weight on online booking, digital forms and data sync with the record system, while Weave centres on phones and messaging.

What are NexHealth alternatives?

Dental Intelligence and Weave are add-on engagement platforms; an all-in-one cloud system such as CareStack includes similar tools inside the practice management software.
