Install and first run
ClearDent is not a public download you install yourself; the vendor sets it up. What you prepare depends on the model. The requirements below come from ClearDent’s IT specification sheets (last updated May 2025).
- On-Premise server: x86 server CPU less than five years old, 32 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, current Windows Server, current Microsoft SQL Server, TPM 2.0 with encryption enabled, a UPS with safe shutdown, and ClearVault cloud backup plus an encrypted removable drive. A dedicated physical server is recommended.
- Workstations: x86 PC with a CPU less than three years old, 16 GB RAM, SSD, current Windows Pro, gigabit Ethernet and security software.
- Cloud: Chrome or Edge on current Windows Pro, or Chrome on current macOS (beta), 1920×1080 or higher; a Windows PC is still needed for digital image capture.
- Peripherals: selected intraoral cameras and digital X-ray devices approved by Health Canada, Fujitsu ScanSnap scanners, and Topaz signature pads.
Gotchas: Windows Home editions do not appear in the specifications, so use Pro. Remember Windows Client Access Licences for an on-premise server, and check with ClearDent before reusing an existing server or a virtual machine.
