Denticon is cloud-based dental practice management software from Planet DDS, built mainly for dental service organisations (DSOs) and group practices in the US, and also sold to private, multi-specialty, mobile, military and institutional dental offices. Denticon software runs in a web browser and covers scheduling, charting, treatment planning, insurance claims, revenue cycle work and analytics across many locations from one database.
Denticon is commercial software with no free version. Planet DDS offers a demo on request, so we list it as shareware (conditionally free). Planet DDS says its platform has been cloud-native since 2003 and is used by more than 13,000 practices; in July 2026 it launched DentalOS, which links Denticon with its Cloud 9 orthodontic software and Apteryx cloud imaging.

Move a group of practices onto Denticon
- Assign a project manager, IT lead, clinical lead and training lead on your side.
- Planet DDS takes a copy of your old database and runs a trial conversion; your team audits the converted data.
- After approval, a final copy is converted and the office goes live, followed by a post-live check-in.
Planet DDS puts implementation at about 8 weeks from the kickoff call and says it has converted data from over 60 systems, including Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental and Carestream Dental.
Chart perio hands-free
- Open the patient’s perio chart in Denticon.
- Use AI Voice Perio to dictate readings while the chart fills in, without an assistant typing.
- Review and save; AI Voice Restorative works the same way for restorative charting.
Train new staff
Denticon University is Planet DDS’s library of how-to videos and PDFs for everyday tasks, grouped by clinical, clerical and management work. Planet DDS also offers online and on-site training; virtual sessions are billed separately.
Install and first run
- Nothing to install for the main program: staff sign in through a web browser.
- Recommended: Windows 11, Intel i5 or higher, 16 GB RAM, 250 GB storage, 1920 x 1080 display, 6 Mbps down / 2 Mbps up internet.
- Minimum: Windows 10, Intel i3, 8 GB RAM, 80 GB storage, 3 Mbps down / 1 Mbps up.
- Browsers: Chrome or Edge, plus the latest Adobe Acrobat Reader.
- Mac and tablets: Planet DDS’s requirements list Windows only; macOS, ChromeOS and iPad are not listed.
- Imaging: images are handled by Apteryx cloud imaging or a supported imaging integration; confirm your sensors and cameras with Planet DDS before go-live.
Limitations
- No free version or self-service trial; access follows a demo and a sales agreement.
